Sunny southern California played host to GLORY 52 in March as fighters from around the globe touched down in the City of Angels to put their high-level striking on display.
The night kicked off with an instant classic showdown between top Lightweights Josh Jauncey and Stoyan Koprivlenski.
Koprivlenski was coming off of a spectacular performance at GLORY 49 where he won a Lightweight contender tournament and later received the “Knockout Kick of the Year 2017” award.
Standing opposite him Josh Jauncey looked to get back to his winning ways after suffering a loss to Elvis Gashi in his prior outing. With Jauncey’s back against the wall, he proved to be more dangerous than ever before.
The second fight of the night pitted MMA veteran Chris “The Capo” Camozzi against long-time GLORY veteran Mike “The French Rock” Lemarie.
The two foes had exchanged in a war of words leading up to GLORY 52 with Lemaire wanting to defend kickboxing’s honor against an interloper from another discipline.
The co-Headline event of the night saw former Middleweight world champion Simon “The One” Marcus square off against Bang Muay Thai fighter Zack Wells.
This was Simon’s comeback fight after dropping the title to now-champion Alex Pereira last October at GLORY 46 Guangzhou. A professional fighter is always dangerous, but even more so when they feel they have something to prove, as Marcus showed here.
The Headline event of the evening featured a Featherweight world title unification bout between reigning champion Robin van Roosmalen and interim champion Kevin VanNostrand in a five-round title fight. The lead-up to this Featherweight tilt even riled up both cornermen.
However, only Robin and Kevin would be inside the ring on fight night to settle the score. Could the American underdog pull off one of the biggest upsets in GLORY history, or would the Dutch superstar continue his dominant run? See for yourself below.
Robin van Roosmalen’s next Featherweight title defense goes down on July 20th at GLORY 55 New York in a rematch against Petchpanomrung Kiatmookao.
